Custom Residential + Light Commercial Design/Production/Project Architect
Rhodes Architecture + Light is an award-winning 27-year-old firm with an exciting portfolio of design-oriented residential and commercial buildings–and we are seeking new members for our architectural team! Rhodes Architecture + Light is a small West Seattle firm designing and building exciting contemporary architecture in the Puget Sound region. We provide a calm, team-driven work environment in a beautiful location in the West Seattle Junction.
Our walkable location near shops and restaurants, flexible hours, and tight team of five skilled and professional staff makes our small firm a highly desirable place to work. We engage in all aspects of the architecture including interiors, lighting, site design and planning. Our emphasis is on sustainable, wellness-centered design informed by science that enhances the lives of people who live, work and play in the beautiful and innovative buildings we design and produce.
You will be interested in planning, developing, detailing, and observing the construction of exciting residences and focal commercial structures, driven to expand your abilities, inherently interested in learning and growing, and seeking to join a small vibrant office. We believe Architects should wear many hats and we actively seek to support and train our people, offering broad and varied experiences.
You will be excited about the built environment, the way buildings go together, interaction with clients and simple, elegant design solutions. You will have good in-depth experience with wood, steel and concrete and understand building assemblies and systems.
We seek a person to join a team with flexible hours, an inclusive, supportive and mutually respectful climate, with a home base in an historic building in the heart of West Seattle commercial business district. You will be self-propelled, have at least 4-5 years of varied (residential and commercial) architectural experience, excellent drawing, writing, and graphic thinking skills, and be versed in Autocad and Revit.

We are a small, energetic, design-oriented firm with 27-years of substantial contemporary residential and commercial design and construction, Seeking Licensed and Unlicensed Project Architect/Designer/Production Staff. We offer flexible days in and out of the office, a great location, and a 40-hour, maximum, flexible work week (no overtime or long hours expected!).
Applicants must have a five-year architecturally-accredited degree and have architectural registration or be actively pursuing registration, design and detailing experience, and an interest in contemporary detail-oriented design and construction documents experience.
Knowledge of and fluency in Revit and Autocad, Word, is crucial.
Candidates should have 5 years of experience in residential and commercial project design and management; excellent design and drawing skills are important. A real passion and love of highly designed and detailed architecture is critical.
This is a full-time, contract position.
Salary: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
