8 Limbs Yoga in West Seattle is the third location for a practice that teaches Hatha Yoga, a form whose name derives from the Sanskrit words for sun and moon. The company sought a new facility created in an existing space that had previously been a weight-lifting gymnasium. The original open space was old and dark and lacked modern lighting, ventilation, and electrical systems.

At Rhodes Architecture + Light, we talk a lot about how design, mindful selection of sustainable materials, and building systems play an important role in whole body health. This renovation allowed us to apply our extensive knowledge of lighting, materials + systems to create a space specifically designed to enhance the physiological and psychological state of the employees and patrons.

The owners of 8 Limbs Yoga sought spaces for two yoga studios, an office and boutique, renovated bathrooms, showers, and saunas. Rhodes Architecture + Light worked to select materials and finishes, modernize the bathrooms, lighting, electrical, and ventilation systems in an existing second story space. The entire renovation was completed on a very limited budget in three months.
